Green Solutions Projects (Applied)

This subset of our projects represents our applied focus. Explore the research areas below. We aim to use our fundamental knowledge of photosynthesis to engineer improvements in crop productivity and yield and to explore renewable energy, medical, and industrial applications.

We also have developed new technologies, mostly centered in the Center for Advanced Algal and Plant Phenotyping, that allow us to study photosynthesis under field and lab conditions and which are yielding new insights into how photosynthesis works in real, dynamic environments.
