First and foremost, I would like to thank everyone who participated in Gutter Ball 28! Despite the late date of the event this year, the turnout was fantastic! The number of different labs that participated this year speaks to the distinctive collaborative atmosphere that is both a hallmark and fun part of the MSU plant research community. So again, thank you one and all!

And now onto the results… when the last pin fell into the gutter last Friday night, Tony Schilmiller (a three-time Gutter Ball Champion, the Assistant Core Manager of the MSU Mass Spectrometry & Metabolomics Core Facility and a PRL alum) returned to the winner’s circle! Tony was able to fend off a vigorous challenge by John Froehlich (a two-time Gutter Ball Champion) to win this year’s event by a single pin! What a spectacular demonstration of bowling talent. Not to be outdone, however, this year’s high women score went to Bailey Kleven, a graduate student in the lab of Dr. Gregg Howe (Plant Research Laboratory). Congratulations Bailey!

So, on behalf of the Gutter Ball Committee, Linda Danhof and I would like to once again thank everyone for making Gutter Ball 28 a memorable event! See you all next year!
